Gravity Series™ 1150 Charcoal Barbecue – Masterbuilt
$ 99.24
The Gravity Series™ 1150 is an electronically controlled digital charcoal barbecue-smoker with a gravity hopper that maintains temperatures from 107 to 371°C for slow smoking to heavy-duty searing, with an approximate 15 minute start-up and pre-heat to set point. Ignition is by ignitor on the charcoal grate, and, once the temperature is set on the controller, the system stabilises without the need for manual air manipulation. Materials and constructionIncludes Smoke Sear cast iron grates that can be used on the smoking side or the high-temperature marking side; the manufacturer indicates not to turn them with the grill on or hot to protect the iron and avoid accidents. On the upper shelves, the plate warmer can be removed and stored behind its own support when not in use, making better use of the space in the chamber. The trolley incorporates front storage and specific areas for storing accessories and meat probes.⚙️ Outstanding functionalitiesThe digital panel allows you to switch on, pause while running and switch off with a long press; temperature and timers (countdown or stopwatch) can be set with the same control. It is also possible to set temperature alarms associated with each probe (MP1-MP4) and to choose whether the display works in °C or °F from the controller itself, which simplifies use in metric-only mode. If at any time the wireless connection is lost, the grill continues to run the program and can be operated from the panel. Performance and efficiencyCommissioning involves removing the air intake and heat sliders, opening the hopper lid and ash door (their safety switches disable the fan while open) and filling the hopper with charcoal. The manufacturer specifies loads of ≈5.5 kg of charcoal or ≈8 kg of briquettes; after 1-2 minutes of ignition of the starter, the temperature is set and the equipment preheats in ~15 min. For added flavour, lump wood can be mixed with the charcoal (max. 0.68 kg in the whole hopper). Surface area and capacityProvides 7,419 cm² (0.742 m²) of total cooking surface, distributed between the main cast iron grill and the upper shelves. This area allows a wide variety of cuts and side dishes to be cooked simultaneously without constantly moving food, and features a removable warming rack support with dedicated storage space when not in use.️ Connectivity and controlIn addition to the panel, the grill is ready for wireless connectivity; if the pairing or signal fails, you can continue from the front control without interrupting cooking. The probe system is integrated into the controller, and the structure comes with dedicated storage points to keep them protected when not in use. Compatibilities and accessoriesThere are official accessories such asa griddle and pizza oven, which are sold separately and have storage spaces within the grill cabinet itself. The manual warns not to store combustible materials inside the cabinet, as hot ash may reach it. Design and ergonomicsThe assembly is supported on 3″ swivel and lockable castors, incorporates trolley panels on both sides,a bottom shelf and a hopper enclosure with a dedicated gasket. At the front, the cabinet allows for door adjustment to maintain correct alignment with use. In built-in installations, the manufacturer provides equipment dimensions (A 922 mm; B 1032 mm; C 668.2 mm; D 1330 mm; E 957 mm; F 177.8 mm) and minimum distances to non-combustible materials, with the indication to always comply with the strictest requirement between local regulations and the manufacturer’s recommendations. Benefits by cooking styleFor stable smoking between 107-135°C, the gravity hopper and digital control reduce lid openings and keep airflow constant; top shelves allow you to cook garnishes with gentler heat, while the cast iron grill provides clean marking when the temperature rises. If you need to reload, the safe procedure is not to do so above 121°C, pause the fan and act quickly with gloves on, knowing that opening the hopper can raise a flame that returns to its level when closed.️ Safety and ease of useCorrect shutdown consists of turning off the controller, closing the cooker lid, hopper lid and ash door, and closing the air and heat intake sliders to smother the charcoal; this allows some of the fuel to be conserved for the next session. The manufacturer insists on allowing to cool completely before cleaning, covering and storing, and on inspecting fittings and components regularly. For daily care, mild detergent is recommended on the grill and exterior, and the ash tray should be emptied after each use.
