Household cleaning: Citric Acid
$ 6.56
After a conversation with Jenny, here’s a great recipe for spray cleaner using citric acid from Nancy Birtwhistle whose ‘Clean and Green’ book is worth a read (thanks to a friend for passing it on). Nancy calls it toilet magic or pure magic. 200g citric acid 150ml just boiled water 20ml eco-friendly washing up liquid 10-20 drops tea tree oil Place the citric acid crystals in a heatproof jug, add the hot water and stir to dissolve. Add the washing up liquid and tea tree oil and mix well. Leave uncovered for a couple of hours then pour into a spray bottle. Great at getting under the rim of the loo, around showers and taps etc., and is eco-friendly. Spray, leave, brush and rinse. Needs a through rinse or it can dry sticky around taps and surfaces. If the spray head seizes due to the citric acid re-crystalising, soak the spray head in hot water to re-dissolve.
