My profession has allowed me countless times of compounding drugs with a mortar & pestle.PROS: Very reasonable price for the quality.The weight & texture of a mortar & pestle will speed your crushing/grinding & pulverizing. Both weight & texture are critical for your end result as well as speed to your finished product.If you season EXACTLY as recommended, the set is a quick & easy cleanup with JUST water. No soap unless you want the taste of soap in your next meal.The weight is important as it will withstand all the stress applied during use as well as stay in place so you are not chasing it around your counter surface.CONS: NoneNOTES: As previously mentioned “season” your mortar & pestle per manufacturer instructions. The seasoning process can become boring as well as lengthy. So try these tips. Again per the manufacturer, add a handful of rice to the mortar and work until it is “white”. My interpretation is “white” means crush the rice until it is a powder before you proceed with the other seasoning steps.INHO this will speed the “rice powder” step along. With a strong grip of the pestle smash the rice into the curved edge where the side meets th e bottom of the mortar. Simply put, crush it. Stirring in a circle to work the rice will take forever. Break the rice into small pieces, then up you can begin to work the rice in a circle while concentrating your power in the corner curve of he bowl.Sorry this is lengthy, but my goal is to help you season your mortar & pestle correctly & speedily allowing you great results for the life of your set.
